Ashford CRJ 627 Week 5 Discussion 2 Role Play—Public Perception of Forensics

Role Play—Public Perception of Forensics. 1st Post Due by Day 3. Popular media has perpetrated a number of common myths that influence the public perception of forensics. In this discussion, you will look at how these myths differ from reality and the impact that has throughout the investigation and at trial. Using a minimum of three scholarly sources from the Ashford University Library or another scholarly or credible source of information, your initial post should be a minimum of 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples and properly cite any references in APA format as outlined by the Ashford University Writing Center.

You will be assigned a role as outlined below, and, based on this role, provide at least one recommendation for managing perceptions and addressing misconceptions.

• ·  If your last name begins with A-G, your role is that of a prosecutor defending actual technology and scientific methodology to manage public perception of forensics for a trial. How would you educate the jury?
• ·  If your last name begins with H-N, your role is that of a public defender trying to take advantage of the misconceptions regarding technology and scientific methodology. How would you counter the prosecutor’s efforts?
• ·  If your last name begins with O-Z, your role is that of a member of a jury trying to determine what technology and scientific methodology is real and what is fabricated or misrepresented either at trial or in popular media outside of the courtroom. How would you make that determination?
