IHP 501 Final Project Milestone Two
The three major health issues identified for the Dominican Republic (DR), are access to healthcare, HIV/AIDS, and Tuberculosis. The significance of having open access to quality cannot be overlooked. In fact, “lack of healthcare facilities is thought to be underlying reason for the health disparities between rural and urban communities in countries as the Dominican Republic” (Caban-Martinez, Halder, Tellechea, Fajardo, Kaltman, Anand & Fleming 2012). Not having access to quality healthcare can impact generations of people in the rural areas of the DR and allow diseases to spread.
